ANNABELLE’S TOP 3 MEMORABLE SCARY MOVIES
I have to say, these days I’m a bit of a wuss and avoid scary movies wherever possible! But when I was younger and a little more daring, I watched my fair share, and these are three that stuck with me for one reason or another:
- Event Horizon
Wow, this film gave me nightmares. We went to see the midnight showing, and I’d never been so scared walking back to my car before. Everything about that film creeped me out. - Poltergeist
The one scene that will be forever stuck in my head from this movie, is the face peeling scene. At the time, it was the grossest thing I’d ever watched. It still makes me cringe now when I think about it. It’s probably just as well I was too young at the time to go see it at the cinema. - Silence of the Lambs
I love Anthony Hopkins. I love this film, because I’m more a fan of suspense than gore. Although it has it’s moments. I saw this at the cinema, and the bit at the end where’s she’s in the dark had me watching from behind my fingers. I always wonder if it would’ve been creepy to watch a screening of this with Anthony Hopkins sat behind you.
Out of all the scary movies I’ve watched, these three still make me shudder, and I’m not sure I’d watch them now. Definitely not the first two anyway!

I think the most memorable one is THE RING (japanese version). It almost did not let me sleep for almost 7 days.

It. I think because it was the only one I saw as a kid, but it didn’t make me afraid of clowns just scary movies.

Ahhh since you said Silence of the Lambs. I would have to say the Bryan De Palma original version of Red Dragon from the 80’s where we meet Dr. Lecture for the first time. But ass a mind thriller I’m gonna NG with Psycho

I am not fond of scary movies but I saw Leprechaun once and will never forget it.
I’ve not seen that one. Not sure I want to, lol.

The movies that have stuck with me the most are leprechaun because I watched it at a young age and it scared the bejesus out of me…. had nightmares for a long time. Also pet cemetery and It!
Didn’t get to finish! Pet Demerara was memorable because those damn animals came out of there graves as something not familiar. Thamily wanted to love their pet but they were demented! It was insane the clowns had them in cotton candy cacoons and put stews in and drank. Insane, I know people who are still deathly afraid of clowns 🤡 !
Clowns are def not my fav things.
Steven King has a lot to answer for, lol.
Poltergeist was one scary movie.
My most memorable scary movie is The Shuttered Room. The suspense in that film is off the charts, and the creep factor is very high.
One of the most memorable horror movies I’ve watched that actually scared me was Ju-on. Japanese and Korean horror movies are really messed up in my opinion. lol I watched it alone at night. Yeah, that was a mistake.
The three that have stuck with me are Silence of the Lambs, the original Dracula and The Shining.
The one scary movie that stuck with me is also the reason i dont watch scary movies any more. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I loved all thangs scary movie when i was a kid but after seeing that movie and find out it was based of a true story and the never caught thr person i was done. It never even crossed my mind that that was a thing lol.

We went to the theater to see The Entity when it was first released and that movie scared the crap out of me and my mother. It made us both jumpy and looking over our shoulders for days.
Event Horizon was a scary ass movie.

House on Haunted Hill. I am not reply scared of this movie but it really leaves a person jumping. The original if I remember correctly was in black and white and was a Vicente Price movie.
Silence of the Lambs definitely stuck. The scene where the guard was hanging from the ceiling gutted, looking like an angel. *Shudder* but Anthony Hopkins is such an amazing actor. I love Hellraiser. Something about Pinhead. He’s just creepy but cool. I wish I could remember the name of the one in my head. It stuck because this possessed guy was crawling on the ceiling and walls to get to peopleand the way the did it. Holy crap. It freaked me out bad

I don’t usually watch scary movies of my own volition, but my friends love them. So I sit there and try to find my zen happy place. But House of 1000 Corpses (the Rob Zombie movie) broke me. The Ring, too, was a nice insomnia-builder. 🙂
Silence of the Lambs is a favorite movie.
I loved Bela Lugosi’s 1931 Dracula movie. It was a bit creepy, but not gory. What made it memorable were how Lugosi’s eyes glowed with malice. Don’t know if it was a lighting trick, but I still remember his eyes after all this time.
The Woman in Black was the last scary movie that I saw. It really isn’t my thing.
Silence of the Lambs scared me senseless…so many scenes stuck with me but the “it puts the lotion on its skin” gave me the chills for weeks!
My oldest brother forced me to watch exorcist when I was a child. I was terrified and to this day I still can’t stand scary movies, especially possession! I don’t even like being in the house alone….Thanks big bro! lol
Darkness Falls always comes to my mind for scary movies, probably because I was always scared of the tooth fairy and this movie just takes that fear up like 100 notches lol. Another movie that I can’t watch because it freaked me out so badly is, the New Daughter. Just watch it, just let me say I warned you. It’s freaking scary and creepy!
Not a horror fan I do remember watching a couple when I was really young, one was about ventriloquist dummy that took on a life of it own guest who can watch any ventriloquist acts now! Also Clowns just because, nearly forgot Alien lord that movie scared me for ages.
I went to see Poltergeist in the cinema with my brand new boyfriend in 1982 and nearly broke his arm gripping on during the scariest bits. ( He married me anyway) . But it definitely put me off horror films. Hocus Pocus is about my level now. 😘
Halloween. Perfect.
This season I watched both Heredity and The Babadook. Both scared the wizzes out of me. I may not watch either again. Event Horizon on the other hand is one of my favorite movies. I own the DVD and watch it several times a year. The acting, settings, the way it draws you into to the vastness of space and the unending unknown, terrifying possibilities. And Dr. Weir…. Ahhhh sh*t. Scuuury!! (but in a good way)
My most Unforgettable experience is watching the Exorcist when I was 10. It scarred me for life and now I avoid basically all hardcore scary movies.
The one that sticks with me is not scary, but I love it. It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
I think one that really scared me when I was young was Night of the Living Dead (1990), I could never finished watching it when I was a kid.
Yes! Event Horizon gave me nightmares and hastened the end of my relationship when my boyfriend at the time was a jerk about it. Nope. I had to stop watching the House on Haunted Hill after that doctor with the knife–Nope. I don’t watch slasher films, especially home invasion. Nope. Movies that I did manage to finish that stayed with me are usually psychological thrillers like Don’t Look Now, The Fly, and Angel Heart.

I tend to avoid horror/scary movies. I’ve mentioned my favorites along this blog hop, and I’ll remember the other one that scares me really… THE RING in its ORIGINAL JAPANESE!! my God that one was creepy as hell. The Japanese original version is scarier than the Hollywood adaption, IMHO
I’ve heard and watched the 2 and 3rd of your choice but never watched Event Horizon. The new IT scared the crud out of me but I’ve always loved the Alien movies.
thrillers not horror for me. But I loved Dracula Untold.
So I totally hate scary movies, but when I was in college, my dorm mates had on Copycat. Terrified the crap out of me. 3+ years later, I had to go to the ER with someone at work at 11:30 at night. The bathroom had the lights off and All I could think of was the guy trying to get her with wire over the stall. I sat on the toilet staring up the whole time. Then, as I was done, the TOILET AUTOFLUSHED!!! Can I just tell you that it’s a good thing I already went or else I would’ve peed my pants. I was out of that bathroom so fast. It’s been 20 years since then, and I STILL remember it so clearly. 😂
Not a fan of horror, but I have to agree that Seven was seriously warped. But Carrie was truly a scary movie.
The most memorable movie is one that, oddly, I barely remember. When I was little, I somehow wound up watching an old version of The Portrait of Dorian Grey. In the end, when he starts aging, and shriveling, and (IIRC) turning greenish, I was completely freaked out. I’m sure the effects would seem laughable, nowadays.
I’ve never tended to pick entertainment labeled “horror”, though I’ve enjoyed the Mummy franchise and Tim Burton creations, and many [occasionally] horror-ish TV series such as Buffy and Grimm, and even Doctor Who, really. The DW villains who creeped me out the most (despite turning out to be not precisely, necessarily villains, in a later episode) were the Silence, because messing with my mind is one of my biggest personal phobias.
I’m not into horror movies but Poltergeist, Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre had me screaming and hiding behind my husband

Let’s just say someone let me watch Chucks and IT too young, and I have been scared of clowns and creepy dolls ever since. So those, for all the wrong reasons LOL. Thank you for the chance!
Psycho is my favorite scary movie.
These days I don’t watch anything scarier than Dr Who but I have seen Se7en and holy sugar maple that stayed with me for a long time

I don’t watch anything remotely scary at all. For instance, I got scared and had to leave the room when I was watching the X-files movie.
Darkness, a film with Anna Paquin. I have always been scared of the dark, so it really stuck with me for obvious reasons…
I’m not really a horror movie watcher, because I’m really impressionable and have nightmares very easily. So the movie that stuck with me was “House of Wax” becuse I remember watching it with my sister and laughing the whole time.
Hannibal is one of my favorites. When I think about I always think about the scene at the end where he cuts off the top of Clarisse’s bosses skull and feeds his own brain to him. Gives me shivers.
Also how he cuts off his own hand rather than hurt her. It always stuck with me.
